Board of Directors

Dawna Starr, President/Webmaster/Interim Newsletter Editor

Dawna moved to Seattle in 1999, where she now lives with her husband Steven. When her first Bullmastiff passed away at a 4 from an unexplained and likely congenital condition, Dawna's research led her to the American Bullmastiff Association's Health & Research COmmittee. Eventually Dawna became involved in the American Bullmastiff Association's Rescue Service, fostering several bullmastiffs until they found their forever homes, and now volunteering for home inspections and transport.

Dawna enjoys competing in conformation with her brindle Bullmastiff Remi. Dawna also serves as the webmaster for the Mount Rainier Working Dog Club and the ABA Nationals sites for 2008-2010, and was also the Banquet and Hospitality Chair for the ABA 2008 Nationals.

Dawna is an experienced paralegal and project/event manager with more than 17+ years of experience. She worked in large law firms and corporations on the east coast, before moving to Seattle to work at Microsoft. Currently, Dawna is the Corporate Paralegal and Project Superevisor at Rainier Investment Management, Inc.  In her spare time, she develops and manages web sites (http://www.bullystarr.com) - mostly bullmastiff-related!

Kris Lynch, Vice President

Kris has been owned by Bullmastiffs since 1993 when she was picked by her first bullmastiffs, Ch. Ol West Lily Langtre and Ch. Ol West Butch Cassidy. It was only a matter of time before she was owned by several more Bullies (Angus, Ellie, Rosa, and Murphy & Merlin). Kris met and married her husband, Brendan, while showing Bullmastiffs. Bullmastiffs or Mastiff breeds are now in the homes of most of her family. Kris has been very active in the local breed clubs and has held several committee positions. She has a strong belief in public education, rescue and Health and Research. Kris feels that cancer has become a major problem in our breed and is working to help raise awareness and promote research to fight this disease.

Kris recently realized a life long dream - she become the proud owner of a Belgian Draft horse. Kris, with the help of Barb and Mark Worrell and the support of her husband Brendan, adopted and saved from Slaughter a yearling stud colt name Bo (short for Bodacious). Bo was on a feed lot in Yakima awaiting shipment to a slaughter house in Chicago. Kris in now active in fighting against slaughter and donating funds to save other horses from the same fate.

Kris currently lives with 4 Bullmastiffs (Tango, Captain, and Emme & Buzz) and one Spinoni (Trooper). Kris has been married for almost 13 years to Brendan Lynch. Kris and Brendan have 2 children, Son Casey (9) and daughter, Patty (4). Kris has bred 7 litters, and is currently co-breeding with friend and mentor Sharon Guthrie of Moonshine Bullmastiffs (Cogan Station, Pennsylvania). Kris Breeds and shows under the kennel name of Tirnanog.

Kris is a senior loan officer with PrimeLending in Bremerton Washington.

Marti Edwards, Secretary/Membership Chair

Marti supports her dog habit as a pet dog Groomer. She has been in dogs (mainly Bullmastiffs) for about 15 years. Her current Bullmastiff is Am/Can/Int’l Ch. Ol West Frank James, RN, CGC, AAT/AAA (Frankie). This year Marti and Frankie are working on Obedience and Rally.

Lynn Ferrell, Treasurer

After raising Akitas for 14 years, her family decided to change to Bullmastiffs. She is married to TJ and has two daughters, Sarah and Victoria. They have traveled the world with the Marine Corps and made Seattle their home in 2002. They are owned by their new puppy, Victor (Ol West Bat Masterson) and 5 year old yorkie, Tyler.

Barbara Brooks-Worrell

Barbara holds a doctorate in Veterinary Science/Immunology. She obtained her first bullmastiff in 1984 and began showing in 1989 with Ch Ironwood's Buffalo Bill Cody, CD, NA, HIT. Cody and Barbara were the 2nd bullmastiff team to receive our agility title in the history of the breed (they missed being 1st by 1 week). Cody and Barbara also obtained a High in Trial (HIT) in obedience at the ABA specialty.

Barbara and her husband Mark established
Ol West Bullmastiffs in 1990 and bred their first litter in 1991. They have bred multiple group placing dogs, top 10 bullmastiffs, obedience titlist, conformation titlist, duel and triple titlist, therapy dogs, search and rescue dogs, and wonderful family members. They love to show their dogs in conformation, agility and obedience and hope their daughter (Morgan-age 3 yrs) will one day be handling the bullmastiffs in Juniors.

Barbara and Mark have always been deeply involved in rescue. Barbara has held the position of
American Bullmastiff Association (ABA) national rescue chairperson multiple times. They have also won many awards and have been recognized many times for their work in rescue by a number of national breed clubs, law enforcement, animal control organizations, and the American Kennel Club.
